Hampstead School in Westbere Road, Cricklewood, was granted planning permission by Camden Council to demolish its subsiding 1960s teaching building. It will make way for a modern new building with a red, yellow and black facade, as well as a new sports centre.
Greater London Demolition successfully won this contract via Wates Construction with whom they have a superb working relationship due to GLD’s professional and safety conscious work practices.
The project has a number of different buildings that needs to be demolished and dismantled, all containing their own challenges. The existing boiler house needs to be removed along with the careful extraction of existing fuel within the tanks. The 1960’s classroom block will be dismantled in its entirety including all hard landscaping, fixed furniture and equipment. The foundations will also need to be removed to a depth of 1.5 meters.
Greater London Demolition will recycle any demolition arisings on site, ready to be re-used for the future development of the school.
The project will take around 10 weeks to complete and will be carried out with qualified operatives and an excellent health and safety stance.
